Hartal call by Pakatan in Perak? Hmm, just like the old commie days in S'pore

Riots in Singapore...hartal?

This was just what the communist controlled trade unions in Singapore did to stabilise the island state before it attained independence.

Calling for hartal (stop  work, protests, demo and even riots) had always been the trademark of communist agitation...and today this threat rears its ugly head, courtesy of Pakatan in Perak.

Read on:

"As Pakatan Rakyat gears up for its final battle for Perak in court tomorrow, calls from the public for the dissolution of the state assembly have resurfaced once again.

The Perak People's Action Committee, an NGO clearly aligned to Pakatan today handed over a memorandum to the Perak BN government urging for a return to 'democracy' to the people through state elections or face negative repercussions.

They gave BN until Aug 8 to seek dissolution of the assembly or a statewide hartal would be held.

"During this day, the people of Perak will not engage in any outside activity. We will not go to work, our children would not go to school and we will show BN that the majority of Perak folk want justice returned to them," said committee coordinator R. Mohanarani."

Where people power ends and institutional power begins (on behalf of the people)

Democracies that are entrenchedly rooted to the Rule of Law, are Nations of Laws, not of Men.

It is the Assembly and not the who people determine who becomes MB by giving/withholding support.

So, by going back to the people against the wishes of the majority ADUN, who were, invariably elected by the people during an officially convened election, naturally transgresses the right and role of the Assembly, who were mandated to represent the people.

There has to be a demarcation of sorts as to where the people play their part and where it ends when they surrender their mandate into the hands of their duly elected representatives. The people have a chance to elect their constituency representative every five years, or earlier if the good Sultan agrees.

And this is clearly entrenched within the Constitution, which says it is the Royal Prerogative. Henceforth, To force the Sultan to agree is to deny him his constitutional discretion.

I believe We must accept supremacy of laws over groups of people to be safely anchored as a nation based on laws.

And let us not forget there is an orderly way for the people to legislate law. Disorderliness is equal to anarchy, and anarchy begets lawlessness and misery.

Agenda licik seorang moderate

Anwar Ibrahim seorang 'moderat,' tetapi menjadi seorang moderate amat berbahaya.

To the Chinese Media: hello, be more responsible...

The mainstream Chinese press should be more responsible ...avoid playing devil's advocate over certain issues.

What was said by Datuk Hishamuddin was totally taken out of context.

What he said was in relation to education reforms and the re-aligning of history as a subject – about rukun negara, position of Malay rulers as the pillars of the nation, which should be instilled in our children if they are to keep their identities and be aware of their roots. UMNO fought for all that!

Hishamuddin NEVER denied the contribution of MCA, MIC or the other races!

History is a fact that he cant change...

This is what Datuk Hishamuddin Tun Hussein wanted to say.

Before anyone tries to preempt a follow up reeport in tomorrows news...fall back on this little piece, sans colours and sensation...for heaven's sake...

Eli’s Coming...

From Lenggong Valley

ELI's COMING...that's a 60s song by Three Dog Night.

The lyrics go something like, "...walk but you'll never get away...no, you'll never get away from the burning a-heartache..."

News has it that Elizabeth Wong is on her way back and that the Selangor Speaker gave her permission to not attend the assembly, while Khalid said he had the discretion to extend her leave!

What gives? Its a waste of tax payer's money and a treachery to her oath of office as state assemblyman...

Just look at the state of affairs in Bukit Lanjan...dangerous potholes on the roads, trees overgrown with rotted branches precariously awaiting to seek out a victim, inadequate pedestrian lanes, clogged drains, mosquitos and dengue statistics climbing fast...and on top of all these, the representative elected by the people to address the woes is away nursing her battered and bruised heart caused by an antagonised paramour?

Hello...
